Academic Rules

  1. Respect for All

    1. Respect for Authority: Students are expected to show respect to faculty, staff, and other BSB Institute personnel.

    2. Respect for Others: All individuals are to mutually treat others with respect, dignity, and kindness regardless of their culture, religion, regional, language, socio-economic background, and identity.

  2. Attendance: Students are required to maintain a minimum 80% class attendance. Failing to meet this requirement may result in being barred from appearing for examinations.

  3. Academic Integrity: Students are expected to maintain and uphold the highest standards of academic integrity, honesty, and ethics. Plagiarism, cheating, and other forms of academic dishonesty are strictly prohibited and may lead to serious consequences.

  4. Coursework: Students are expected to complete all assigned coursework, including assignments, projects, and quizzes in timely manner. Late submissions may incur penalties.

  5. Evaluation: Student performance will be evaluated based on their academic work, participation, and other criteria specified by the faculty.

  6. Grading System: The Institute may use a grading system to evaluate student performance. The grading system will be explained in detail in the course syllabus.

  7. Academic Progress: Students are expected to make satisfactory academic progress. Students who fail to meet academic requirements may be placed on probation or may be discontinued from the program.

  8. Class Timings: Class hours will be informed to the students well in advance with a lunch recess in between. Class timings may be altered from time to time for academic convenience

  9. Punctuality: Students are expected to be on time for attending classes and submission of other academic assignments/activities.

  10. ID Cards: Students must display their ID cards at all times during academic programs.

  11. Notice Boards: Students are required to regularly check notice boards for important notifications, announcements, schedules, and other updates.

  12. Leave Process: Students must seek consent & approval of the HOD before proceeding for leave(s).

  13. Deadlines: Students must adhere to submission deadlines of academic assignments.

  14. Examination

    1. Rules: Students must adhere to the specific rules and regulations and a strict code of conduct related to examinations, including those regarding examination malpractice. Cheating, impersonation, etc, are strictly prohibited and may lead to serious consequences.

    2. Attendance: Compulsory presence of the candidate for examination is mandatory.

  15. Library: The library instructions as notified must be adhered to as a standard code of conduct for the library.

  16. Use of Technology: Use of mobile phones and other electronic devices are not encouraged during class hours, except when required for academic purposes.

 

  1. Internet and Wi-Fi usage

  1. Data Safety and Protection: Sensitive information of the institution must be protected by all students, teaching, and non-teaching staffs of the institution. Any information or data leakage shall be dealt with strict consequences.

  2. Information Technology Devices: Computers and other technology resources and devices of the institution must be used responsibly and in accordance with the policies of the institute.

  3. Wi-Fi Usage: Campus Wi-Fi must be used for ethical and educational purposes only under legal compliance of the state and Union Government.

    1. Cyberbullying, downloading pirated content, or spreading misinformation in cyberspace is strictly prohibited.

    2. Strict actions shall follow on engaging with any misconduct or illegal activities using campus Wi-Fi.

  1. Women’s Meeting: It is expected that female candidates on campus to attend periodic Women’s Meetings as & when arranged by the Institute authority from time to time.

  2. Dress Code: Formal/Semi-formal attire must be maintained by the students during the official hours of BSB.

  3. Grooming and Presentation: Students are expected to maintain a neat and presentable appearance at all times. Students should priorities personal grooming, including clean attire, proper hygiene, and well-maintained hair dressing.

  4. Shoes in Class: Wearing shoes in classrooms is strictly prohibited. All students and BSB personnel must take off their shoes outside classrooms and keep them in the shoe racks provided outside classroom entrances.

  5. Fees: Students shall complete their respective course fees payment in time as per the applicable fees payment rules established and conveyed by the institution.

 
CAMPUS AND HOSTEL DISCIPLINARY RULES:

  1. Code of Conduct: Students are expected to maintain a responsible and dignified demeanour both inside and outside the campus. Refer website for more details concerning the code of conduct.

  2. Entry and Exit Timings: Students must follow the campus entry and exit timings as notified by the management from time to time.

Detailed Timings for Going out of the Campus

  1. Weekdays         5:30 pm – 8.00 pm

  2. Saturday           2.00 pm – 8.00 pm

  3. Sunday & Holidays - 9.00 am – 8.00 pm

  4. 26th January, Saraswati Puja, 15th August - 2.00 pm – 8.00 pm

No students are allowed to leave the campus before 9:00 am, whether on Weekdays or weekends. Exception if needed to be informed to the institute management in advance.

 
 

  1. HOSTEL-RELATED :

  1. Hostel Facilities: Hostel facilities are provided for the convenience of students. Students are expected to use these facilities responsibly and keep them clean and tidy.

  2. Hostel Rules: Students are expected to follow the hostel rules, including rules related to mess, cleanliness, and noise levels. Students are also expected to respect the rights & convenience of fellow residents.

  3. Hostel Staff: Hostel staff are responsible for maintaining order and discipline in the hostels. Students are expected to cooperate with hostel staff and follow their instructions. Hostel staffs with proper authorization, to be permitted to inspect the rooms.

  4. Hostel Timings: Hostel timings will be specified, and students are expected to adhere to these timings.

  5. Guest Policy: Students may be allowed to host guests in the hostel block with prior approval, subject to certain rules and regulations.

  6. Installing additional gadgets/Accessories/racks and shelves, etc., is not permitted in the Hostel room or elsewhere on the campus.

  1. Movement within campus: Students should not be found loitering anywhere on the campus after dinner. Students must stay in their rooms after 10 pm.

  2. Consumption of Tobacco / Alcohol/Contra brand drugs: Consumption of alcohol, tobacco, contra brand drugs etc, is strictly prohibited inside the campus.

    1. Alcohol and Substance Use:  Possession, consumption, and distribution of alcohol or any other prohibited substances is banned within the campus.

    2. Smoking and Tobacco Usage: The entire campus of Bandhan School of Business (BSB) is a *No-Smoking* zone. Smoking and the use of tobacco products are banned on the campus.

  3. Campus Assets & Property: Students are expected to take care of the Institute's assets, property and ensure responsible usage.

    1. Campus Discipline: Students are expected to maintain discipline and decorum. Students are also expected to respect the rights of others and follow the Institute's rules.

    2. Campus Facilities: Campus facilities, including the library, Gym, Common rooms, sports facilities, and auditorium, are available for student use. Students are expected to use these facilities responsibly.

    3. Campus Safety: Students are expected to follow campus safety guidelines and immediately report any possible danger situation/incidents to the authorities. The Institute will take reasonable measures to ensure campus safety.

    4. Campus Cleanliness: Students are expected to maintain cleanliness on campus and follow waste management practices.

    5. Property Damage: Students should refrain from any actions that result in damaging or defacing the property of the institution, like equipment, materials, buildings, or any other installations within the campus. Any damage to property resulting from the misconduct/misuse of a candidate shall be subject to fines/charges as decided by the authority.

 
7. Noise Levels: BSB is a place of education. Noise levels must be kept low to ensure a suitable, peaceful study environment.
8. Gatherings, Meetings and Union Formation: Organising or participating in unauthorised gatherings, meetings, or protests on campus is prohibited. Formation of societies, associations, or unions in the institute is prohibited without the principal’s prior permission. No one is allowed to address meetings without the Principal’s prior permission.
9. Room Allocation: Campus authority shall be solely responsible for decision-making concerning assigning rooms to the Students, to which candidates must adhere. Additionally, if necessary, the room allotment can be changed by the authorities based on the campus requirements.
10. Regular Inspection of Hostel Rooms: Hostel rooms are subject to inspection by the competent authority.
11. Safety of personal possessions: Students are advised not to keep any valuables or Jewellery, etc., in their rooms. All expensive items must be kept under lock and key when the residents are not in their rooms. BSB will not be held responsible for the loss of any valuables. All rooms, when students are not present, must be locked, and the door key may be handed over to security by the last occupant leaving the room.
12. Room Visit Restrictions: Students are forbidden from entering a hostel room not allocated.
13. Unauthorised Guests: Guests are not allowed inside the hostel premises without prior authorization from the competent authority.
14. Anti-Ragging Policy: Ragging is strictly prohibited and can lead to severe penalties as per the prevailing government guidelines, AICTE/UGC, including expulsion from the Institute.
15. Sexual Misconduct and Harassment: Sexual misconduct, harassment, and similar behaviour will be strictly dealt with in accordance with the guidelines set by the government guidelines, AICTE/UGC, concerned committee of the institute.
16. Safety and Security: Students should follow safety and security rules as laid down by the campus authorities, and should familiarise themselves with emergency response protocols. All BSB personnel should prioritise the safety and security of themselves and of others within the campus. Acts of violence or vandalism are strictly prohibited and will be dealt with the strictest measures.
17. Cleanliness and Hygiene: Students must always keep their rooms neat and tidy and maintain proper hygiene. Students and all other personnel at BSB must ensure not to litter the environment and help keep the campus clean. Students are expected to maintain cleanliness and neatness within the campus and should use the designated waste disposal bins. Littering is strictly prohibited.
18. Gym Timings: Participants must adhere to the gym timings as notified by the competent authority. The gym has separate timings for women and men.

  1. Gym Use Overlap: Participants are forbidden from using the gym at a time not allocated to people of their gender.

  2. Register: Participants entering the gym must register themselves while entering and leaving the gym.

  1. Recreational Facilities: It is expected that all should make use of the recreational facilities provided within the campus in a safe and responsible way.

  2. Dining Services: Meals on a self-service basis for all the students will be available in the dining hall of the campus at designated times. All students must wash their own utensils after meals.

  3. Campus Utensils: Campus utensils must not be taken to hostel rooms.

  4. Online Delivery: The campus strictly prohibits any online delivery of any item after 9.30 p.m. The online delivery persons will not be allowed inside the campus. The delivery is to be collected from the main gate.

  5. Use of vehicles: Vehicle use inside the campus may be regulated at the sole discretion of the competent authority.

 
GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL:

  1. Students may report issues and complaints to grievance redressal cells or the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC).


2. Grievance Redressal Committee: A Grievance Redressal Committee constituted to address student grievances. The committee will comprise faculty members and student representatives.
3. Grievance Procedure: Students can submit their grievances in writing to the Grievance Redressal Committee. The committee will investigate the grievance and provide a resolution.
4. Confidentiality: Grievances will be treated confidentially, and students will get a fair and impartial investigation.
5. Timeline: The Grievance Redressal Committee will aim to resolve grievances within a reasonable timeline.

Disciplinary Action

1. Disciplinary Committee: The Disciplinary Committee will investigate and take action on disciplinary matters. The committee will comprise faculty members and student representatives.
2. Penalties: Penalties for misconduct can range from warnings to expulsion from the Institute. The Institute will follow a fair and transparent process in imposing penalties.
3. Appeal Process: Students may appeal against disciplinary decisions. The appeal process will be specified by the Institute.



Consequences of Violation of Rules

  1. Warnings: Minor violations may result in a warning from the concerned authorities.

  2. Fines: Some violations may be subject to monetary fines.

  3. Suspension: More serious violations could lead to students getting suspended from classes, activities, or even from the campus for a specified period.

  4. Expulsion: In case the misconduct is deemed serious enough, students may be expelled from BSB Institute.

 
DECLARATION BY STUDENT:

By enrolling in the Institute, students acknowledge that they have read and understood these rules and regulations and agree to abide by them with their amendments from time to time.

Any issue not expressly provided herein would rest at the absolute discretion of the appropriate authority, and also reserves the right to modify these guidelines. It would be the earnest endeavour of BSB Institute to make the living conditions on the campus comfortable. The cooperation of the students would help the authorities to do so.
